Cold Shrink Tubes - 3M Splice Kits

3M Cold Shrink Cable Splice Kits 8420 Series are designed using the unique cold shrink delivery system developed by 3M. 3M cable splices are supplied pre-stretched on a removable core for efficiency and ease of installation.

The removable 3M core unwinds after positioning the 3M cold shrink cable splice, allowing the splice to cold shrink into position and form a moisture resistant seal. The live memory action of the specially formulated cold shrink tube material ensures a permanent, durable environmental seal and insulation - T&D stock 3M Cold Shrink Tubes.

3M Cold Shrink Splice - Applications
* Primary electrical insulation for all solid dielectric (rubber and plastic) insulated wire and cable splicing rated to 1000 volts. * Direct burial or submersible cold shrink cable splices. * For indoor and outdoor. * Physical protection and moisture sealing for high-voltage, air-insulated connectors and lugs  * Insulation of secondary cable splices, copper or aluminum conductors. * Dig-in repairs. * Cable sheath repairs.

3M Cold Shrink - Description
3M Cold Shrink Connector Insulators are open-ended, tubular, rubber sleeves which are factory expanded and assembled onto a removable core. The core is removed after the tube has been positioned for installation over an inline connection, terminal lug, etc., allowing the cold shrink tube to shrink and form a water-resistant seal. The cold shrink insulating tube is made of EPDM rubber which contains no chlorides or sulfurs. Six diameter cold shrink tubes will cover a range of 1000 volt cable from 10 AWG through 1000 kcmil, copper and aluminum conductors. To extend the useful life of 3M cold shrink in applications which are continuously exposed to high levels of ultra-violet radiation, overwrap the 3M Cold Shrink Tube with 3M Scotch Super 33+ Vinyl Tape or 3M Scotch 70 Silicone Tape.
